Schedule changes happen. So do mid-air diversions and rolling delays. Here's how to track your AirPaz-booked flight, where the alerts actually come from, and what to do when a codeshare scrambles the flight number.
AirPaz "Flight Status" tool. On the AirPaz homepage, switch the search tab to "Flight Status". Enter the flight number (e.g., AK6168) or your route + date. Status reflects what the airline filed, refreshed every few minutes.
The operating airline's app. Most authoritative source. AirAsia's app, Lion Air's app, Cebu Pacific's app — all show real-time gate, terminal and delay info. This is what we recommend for day-of-travel.
FlightRadar24 or FlightAware. Third-party trackers with live GPS data. Best for "where is my plane right now?" when an inbound aircraft is late and you want to predict your departure delay.
Use all three for important trips. They don't always agree — the operating airline is authoritative for departure decisions, but FlightRadar24 sees the actual aircraft movement first.
The codeshare confusion
If your AirPaz ticket says "Operated by Malaysia Airlines, marketed by Qatar Airways" — that's a codeshare. The aircraft is MH metal; the flight number on Qatar's website is different from the flight number on Malaysia Airlines' website. Both flight numbers refer to the same physical flight, but only one will return status when you search.
Rule: always check status using the operating carrier's flight number. AirPaz shows both numbers in the booking detail — look for "Operated by".
Check status under the operating airline's flight number, not the marketing carrier's. Source: airpaz.com booking details.
What "Schedule Change" actually means
You'll get an email from AirPaz with one of these labels:
Minor change (under 60 min). Accept silently — no action required. Show up at the new time.
Significant change (60 min – 4 hrs). Most airlines allow free rebooking on a nearby date. Use My AirPaz → Reschedule.
Major change (over 4 hrs, or route change). Most jurisdictions require the airline to offer a full refund OR free rebooking. Pick whichever suits you.
Flight cancellation. Full refund mandatory in most ASEAN countries. The airline may also offer credit voucher (worth more than cash but locked to the airline).
Respond to the schedule-change email within the deadline (usually 7 days) — silence is treated as acceptance.
Day-of-travel checklist
Check flight status the night before. Set an alarm 30 min before scheduled departure to recheck.
Online check-in opens 24–48 hrs before departure on most carriers. Do it from home.
Verify the terminal in your boarding pass — it can change.
For LCCs in Southeast Asia, arrive 2 hours before domestic / 2.5 hours before international.
Keep a screenshot of your boarding pass in case the app glitches.
For connections, monitor the inbound aircraft on FlightRadar24 once it's airborne.

The denied-boarding scenario
Rare but happens — overbooked flights, expired travel documents, name mismatch. If you're denied boarding through no fault of your own (typically overbooking):
The airline must rebook you on the next available flight at no charge.
In EU jurisdictions, you may be entitled to denied-boarding compensation.
AirPaz can re-issue the ticket once the airline approves — but the airline must act first.
If denied for document reasons (expired passport, missing visa), it's your responsibility. AirPaz cannot help, neither can the airline.
Aircraft swap and seat changes
If the airline swaps aircraft (B737 to A320, or A320 to A321), your seat assignment may shift. Sometimes upgrades happen (more legroom); sometimes downgrades. The airline should email the new seat. If you'd paid for premium seating, you're entitled to a refund of the seat fee if the new seat is worse. Submit via My AirPaz.
Lost or diverted flights
If your flight is diverted (typically weather, sometimes medical emergency), the airline coordinates onward travel. AirPaz follows the airline's resolution. If diverted overnight, accommodation is typically airline-funded — keep receipts.
FAQ
Does AirPaz update flight status in real time?
The status page refreshes every few minutes from airline feeds. For absolute real-time, use the operating airline's app or FlightRadar24.
Why does my AirPaz booking show a different flight number than what's on the airport board?
Codeshare flights have two numbers. The airport board uses the operating airline's number. AirPaz shows both in the booking detail.
Can I track the inbound aircraft for my flight?
Yes via FlightRadar24 — search the operating airline's previous flight to your departure airport. Useful when delays cascade.
What if my flight is rescheduled to a date I can't make?
If the reschedule is significant (over 1 hr typically), you can request a full refund. Most airlines accept this in writing — use My AirPaz → Refund.
How do I get push alerts for schedule changes?
Install the AirPaz app and enable notifications. Email alerts work too but are less timely.
Stay ahead of delays
Check AirPaz's flight status tool or your operating airline's app the night before departure. Saves you from gate-side surprises.
